Have you ever experienced a lack of control and felt panicked? It’s a common feeling, but often we misplace our worries. Control exists on two levels – macro and micro. Macroeconomics deals with the economy of countries, while microeconomics deals with households. Even if I’m not wealthy and have to work, I still have control over small things like how I set up my office, what I drink (coffee), and the temperature. On the other hand, if I lose control over these small things, I may gain control over larger decisions, like choosing whether or not to interact with a particular person or work at particular job. Interestingly, losing control on both levels can sometimes lead to a sense of peace and less distress than losing control on one level alone. Perhaps, that’s why I feel calm in the dentist’s chair.
Coffee Note: Coffee beans are naturally green. They turn brown and develop their characteristic flavor and aroma during the roasting process

Love this! I’m still working on not spending so much of my time and energy on things in my life that I can’t control. I’ve figured out why I do this. It spans all the way back to my dysfunctional and abusive childhood. I never had control of all the terrible abuse I was suffering and now that I am older, have a life of my own and aren’t in that situation anymore, I have more control in my life and decisions. But sometimes the control can get me in trouble.
